“Mimosa Piduca” was
inspired by the flower of
the same name. Like its
namesake, the artwork is
stimulated by electrical
impulses that represent
the opening and closing
of this flower when
touched. While the flower
is extremely delicate, its
reactive movement forms
a barrier not unlike the
metal shield that forms
the outer part of this work,
as the geometric circles
shy away until complete
closure at the rhythm
of a heartbeat. This art
creates juxtaposition
between delicate
illumination of a soul and
hard, protective surfaces,
creating a question in the
viewer’s mind about the
perfection of a variety of
life forms.
